Clogs, Backups & Slow Drains… Oh My!

Preventative Maintenance is Key!

Sewer line preventative maintenance is a crucial step in preserving the function of your drains and plumbing system. This type of maintenance involves regular cleaning of the sewer line to remove debris and other materials that can cause clogs and restrict the flow of waste from the house to the municipal sewer or private septic system.

Schedule sewer line preventative maintenance services with Sal Manzo Plumbing, Heating & Cooling for the best results.

Most sewer lines require preventative maintenance every two years, some annually. By performing these services, a plumber can clear any buildup that has accumulated and prevent it from reaching levels that will block the pipe or damage it. Regular sewer line maintenance keeps the home’s sewer drain system working properly while limiting the possibility for malfunctions and costly repairs. This is a key step in protecting the condition of your sewer pipes, as it can help them last longer.

Clogs & Sewer Line Backups

Either can occur due to reasons such as intrusion from tree roots, grease buildup in the drain lines, and bellied piping that has formed from soil shifting.

Prevention is everything! Helpful hints in avoiding a clog:

  1. Only allow human waste and toilet paper to go down your toilets; all other waste should be discarded to the trash.
  2. Use protective hair catchers over the bath/shower drains.
  3. Cooking oils and grease should Never be allowed down a drain, empty into a container and throw it out with the trash.
  4. Throw out the following food particles in the trash – Eggshells, pasta, rice, celery, coffee grounds, or any bones of any kind will disrupt your garbage disposal and clog your kitchen sink.
  5. Lint-cater, the dirt and debris in your washing machine often will go into the water line and clog.

Hydro-Jetting

Hydro-jetting is a form of drain cleaning that not only resolves immediate obstructions but also prevents future issues by thoroughly cleaning the interior surfaces of your pipes. Hydro-jetting cleans pipes and removes clogs more comprehensively than drain snaking by aggressively flushing the system. It also doesn’t include the use of chemicals, only water. Consider hydro-jetting as a preventive measure or an immediate fix for persisting drainage problems.

How You Know When You Need Hydro-Jetting

There are a few telltale signs that your system needs Hydro-jetting:

  • Your plumbing system backs up regularly
  • Your bathroom or kitchen sink drain smells
  • You hear noisy or gurgling pipes
  • You get a lot of clogs, even though you’re mindful of what you put down your drains
  • Your drains run slow

Hydro-Jetting Service Between the House Trap & the City Sewer

Hydro-Jett

Hydro-jetting is the process of clearing clogs and debris buildup on pipe walls throughout the plumbing system by sending high-pressure water jets through the pipes. This intense cleaning helps prevent the likelihood of future clogs and backups as the water scours the pipe walls to remove grease, food particles, mineral scale, debris, and, in some cases, tree roots. We enter through the house trap and clear straight to the city sewer service.

Hydro-Jett & Camera

Jett sewer from the house trap to the city sewer service, followed by using the camera to view the line from the house trap to the city sewer to ensure the pipe is clear of obstructions and breaks.

Hydro-Jett, Camera & Snake

Jett from the house trap to the city sewer. We will then snake from the house trap, cleaning the pipe inside the house/building as well. Followed by using the camera to view the pipe inside and outside of the house/building to ensure the pipe is clear of obstructions and breaks.

Pipe Locate

If the pipe is determined to be compromised by a break, we use state-of-the-art equipment to find the pipe in the ground, mark it for repair, and provide the depth as well. Locating the pipe can save thousands of dollars by preventing damage to underground utilities and unnecessary excavating in the wrong areas.

Service Inside the Building or Home

Pull the Toilet & Clean Pipe With a Snake

We will clear the branch line stoppage and then reset the toilet bowl.

Hydro-Jett Branch Line Stoppage (Lines With Severe Grease)

We use a special grease head on the branch line stoppage, located inside the home or building. This will clear the stoppage and the pipe from debris.

Hydro-Jett & Camera Scope

We will clear branch line stoppages inside the home or building with the hydro jetting machine, followed by the camera to check all lines are clear of debris and breaks.

Camera

The camera can be used to scope 2', 3" or 4" pipes to check for debris and breaks.
